Guernsey Launches '2-REG' Aircraft Register Today

We are pleased and proud to announce that Guernsey is today launching its much anticipated aircraft register so at long last we here at Oceanskies have our own local register to promote.

In an event to be held at Guernsey airport a number of aircraft bearing the island's unique registration mark '2-' followed by four letters will be unveiled including aircraft to be registered as 2-PLAY, 2-HIGH and 2-OFUS.

The register has been established to provide a customer focused service for the registration of high quality aircraft involved in non-commercial flying activity around the world.

The safety standards that the register will apply are on a par with the best of the world with the register accepting aircraft based on European (EASA), US (FAA) or Canadian (Transport Canada) certification standards. Crew licensing and approval of maintenance organisations and certifying staff will be performed on a validation basis. In summary the Guernsey system works in basically the same way as the other existing offshore registries such as the Isle of Man, Cayman Islands and Bermuda.

For the time being Guernsey is the only member of the Channel Islands with its own aircraft register. It was originally hoped that Guernsey would together with its sister island of Jersey create a combined Channel Islands Aircraft Registry but the two islands have decided to go it alone. Last Friday Jersey announced that it would launch its own separate aircraft register next year in direct completion to Guernsey.

In the meantime we are happy to assist with aircraft registration in Guernsey, the Isle of Man or any other leading aircraft registry jurisdiction.
