RIFF raises 14 million euros and inaugurates the era of “vibe coding”

While the promise of no-code is still struggling to deliver in the complex environments of large companies, a new generation of tools is trying to bridge the gap between prototype and production. Among them, Riff (formerly databutton), a Norwegian company founded in 2021 in Oslo, offers an approach that it calls “vibe coding”: a way of designing business applications without writing code, but capable of operating on an industrial scale.

Most no-code solutions have established themselves as experimental instruments, useful for testing concepts or automating one-off tasks. Their limit appears when it comes to deploying robust, secure systems integrated into existing software architectures. Riff’s platform allows non-technical users to design applications that manipulate sensitive data or create automation agents linked to tools such as HubSpot, Google Sheets, Mixpanel, Stripe or Notion.

Riff is aimed at both small structures and large organizations wishing to bring their business teams closer to application development. Twilio and Cognite are already among the users of the platform, used in various contexts, from logistics to health, including finance and industrial production.

The company was founded by Trygve Karper, Martin Skow Roed and Viral Shah. It has just raised 14 million euros in Series A, in a round led by Northzone with the participation of Skyfall Ventures, Maki.vc, Sondo Capital, Global Founders Capital and Illusian, the fund of Ilkka Paananen, founder of Supercell. This new financing brings the total capital raised to 18.4 million euros and should allow Riff to extend its vibe coding platform to new markets and consolidate its development teams between Oslo and Helsinki.
