MISTRAL AI, a new productivity lever for public officials

Last June, at VivaTech, François Bayrou, Laurent Marcangeli And Clara Chappaz announced the signing of a ambitious partnership between the State and Mistral AI to equip 10,000 public officials of a conversational assistance tool. Four months later, this project came to fruition with the official launch of the AI Assistantpresented Wednesday by David AmielMinister Delegate in charge of the Civil Service and State Reform.

Designed as a daily assistance tool, the AI Assistant aims to reduce administrative burden, speed up document writing, assist with regulatory research And improve the quality of services provided to citizens. The experiment is part of a broader strategy to modernize the public service, where artificial intelligence becomes a vector of simplification and productivitylike what is already observed in the private sector.

For Anne Le HenanffMinister Delegate in charge of Digital, “DINUM is kicking off this innovative tool designed to:

  • make the daily life of our agents easier,
  • save time and efficiency,
  • use a secure and sovereign solution,
  • better support users.

This step is a concrete illustration of our commitment: putting digital at the heart of public service, strengthening the attractiveness of public professions and modernizing our public services using AI. »

The interministerial digital department (DINUM), pilot of this initiative, sees in this project a concrete illustration of a Sovereign and shared generative AIcapable of being deployed on a large scale across all administrations. The objective is to provide agents with an assistant capable of understanding natural language, interacting with public documentary bases and automating certain recurring tasks, while respecting the security and confidentiality requirements specific to the State.

Beyond the technological dimension, the challenge is also cultural. The introduction of a conversational agent in public services requires a profound change in working practices, but also support for agents. DINUM relies on a progressive approach, centered on experimentation, to adapt AI tools to the specificities of each public profession.

This project is part of the interministerial dynamic Alliancewhich brings together public actors engaged in the development of useful and sovereign artificial intelligence. It is based on a strategic partnership with Mistral AIthe French flagship of major language models, which provides the technological foundations of the system. This launch thus strengthens cooperation between the State and national deeptech players to build public AI.
