Quantum: quoly wants to become the European Nvidia thanks to silicon

Launched with the support of CEA and CNRS, Quoly develops a quantum computer based on silicon. Unlike other French actors as Alice & Bob (chat qubits) or C12 (carbon nanotubes), the Grenoble startup is betting on rapid industrialization.

With Fanny Bouton, Quantum Lead & Product Manager at OVHCLOUD, and CO Founder of France Quantum, we receive Maud Vinet, CEO of quoly, in order to present the news of the startup and its advances. A CO program produced with grandialogue canalchat

“We use proven technologies of the industry, that is to say that we start from chips that we transform into quantum chips. We do quantum microelectronics, ”explains Maud Vinetco -founder and CEO of quoly.

An urgent transition

Prototypes exist. Quantum algorithms too. But no machine still allows you to run the calculations on a large scale.

“The quantum calculation is in a transition phase. We must find how to go to scale with a cost that is reasonable, ”sums up Maud Vinet.

Quobly relies on the Quantum integrated circuitwhich makes it possible to implement algorithms directly on the chip. Objective: miniaturizing, lowering costs, accelerating industrialization. With claimed clarification of 99.999 % loyalty on doors to a qubitsilicon becomes a credible base.

Industrial and political responsibility

While the United States injects billions into the quantum via funds like Playground (PSIQUANTUM financial), France is trying to structure its sector. Maud Vinet insists on the challenge of sovereignty.

“The challenge is to resume technological leadership. Not only to exist, but to specify the standards and give a place to Europe in the world race. »»

Support is very real, according to her: “We are extremely supported by our local policies. And at the national level, the quantum plan since 2021 coordinates the ecosystem, from research to businesses. »»

A fundraising to change scale

Quoly is currently preparing a fundraisingnecessary to develop its technology in microelectronics FABS, without having to build its own infrastructure.

“Developing technology in these factories is a few hundred million euros. And there, we need to have this money. This is what allows us to speed up, ”says Maud Vinet.

OVHCLOUD calls on manufacturers to engage

Fanny buttonresponsible for the quantum program at OVHCloudwelcomes the French dynamic, while alerting the urgency of industrial adoption.

“All the problems that limit you today, it’s worth talking to us. If they have customers, if they have things that are done in R&D, it will allow them to obtain investments more easily. »»

She calls CAC 40 to get involved in concrete terms: “One billion euros in turnover, a million should go on R&D on the subject. It’s not huge. »»

2031: become the quantum nvidia

The Quayby roadmap is clear: Building a machine with Several hundred logical qubits by 2031.

“In 2031, quoly, it will be a little Nvidia. »»

It remains to be seen whether the European ecosystem will be able to support this ambition with the velocity of American funds. In the meantime, the cards are still on the table.
