404 ventures, the new entrepreneurial fund of Mathieu Tarnus

Mathieu Tarnus, founder of a positive group (Sarbacane, Signitic, Datananas), widens his field of action with the creation of 404 venturesa fund intended to support startups in priming. After more than a decade of personal investments in around forty companies (the

The investment thesis is based on four pillars: Tech, Deep Tech, SaaS and Impact. Mathieu Tarnus voluntarily dismisses Saa marketing to avoid any competitive proximity with the activities of Positive group.

The fund mainly targets the phases of Seed and Pre-Seedwith tickets between 50,000 and 200,000 euros, for an average located around 100,000 to 150,000 euros. In the majority of cases, 404 ventures intervene as a follower alongside partner funds, while being able to take control of small funds. The approach is intended to be complementary to that of the micro-founds supported by Bpifrance and to the institutional structures of venture capital, with an assumed role of co-investor.

Based in Lille but open to an enlarged perimeter, the fund plans to invest in France, Europe and the United States When opportunities arise. Mathieu Tarnus also claims a more proactive sourcing logic, which allows you to get out of the simple opportunistic treatment of incoming files.
