David Balland, co-founder of the cryptocurrency company Ledger, was released on Wednesday January 22 after an operation carried out by the national gendarmerie. Kidnapped on Tuesday January 21 in the early morning from his home in Cher, he was taken by his captors to another address where he was sequestered. The latter had demanded the payment of a ransom in cryptocurrencies.

The investigation, now placed under the direction of the Paris public prosecutor’s office, is open for “kidnapping and sequestration by a gang organized to obtain the execution of a condition”. The authorities are seeking to identify and arrest those responsible.
