OPENAI about to complete a record lap of $ 40 billion, with SoftBank Principal Investor
OPENAI is preparing to secure historic financing of $ 40 billion, led by SoftBank, according to several sources close to the file. If the operation results, it will be the largest private investment ever made in artificial intelligence. The valuation of the company would then reach $ 300 billion, against 157 billion in October 2023.
The plan provides for a first bran of $ 10 billion this year (including $ 7.5 MD injected by SoftBank), followed by a second round of $ 30 billion later in the year, including an additional $ 22.5 MD from the Japanese group. Other investors such as Magnetar Capital (up to $ 1 billion), Cotoue, Founders Fund and Altimeter Capital would also be under discussion.
This mega-funding would strengthen OpenAi’s position in the race for AI against Google Deepmind, Anthropic and Xai. It would accelerate GPT’s technical developments, to expand international partnerships – especially in Asia – and to support the expansion of the cloud infrastructure via the Stargate project, in collaboration with Oracle and MGX.
OPENAI adopts the open source protocol of Anthropic to connect its AI agents to data systems
Openai announced the integration of Model Context Protocol (MCP) Developed by its competitor Anthropic, an open source standard designed to connect AI assistants to professional data sources. CEO Sam Altman has confirmed on X that the protocol will soon be deployed in the Chatgpt application, the API of the response and the agents’ SDK. Already adopted by Block, folds or codeium, MCP allows developers to create dynamic bridges between their tools and AI models. This adoption strengthens interoperability between intelligent agents and business infrastructure, signaling a turning point to more open and connected IA ecosystems.
