Parallel announces a fundraising of $ 3.5 million (around 3.2 million euros) in order to deploy its artificial intelligence agents within health establishments. The financing tour is led by FRST, with the participation of Y Combinator, Bpifrance, Kima Ventures, Better Angle and several individual investors.
The administrative impasse in hospitals
In health establishments, administration absorbs up to 25 % of total expenses. Manual data entry, codification of medical acts, transfers of documents between fragmented software mobilize precious hours. This administrative weight, rarely treated as a priority, increases the charges of caregivers and weakens the hospital organization.
An execution technology for an aging system
Faced with the obsolescence of hospital information systems, Parallel focuses on an AIA automation approach capable of interacting with existing software, without the need for complex technical integration. These agents, with models of language (LLM) and software navigation capacities, perform tasks as a human operator would do: reading, understanding, seizure, validation.
The first use case developed concerns medical coding. The agent reads patient files, identifies diagnoses, extracting standard codes, then enters them in dedicated software. This process, now manually ensured by specialized technicians, is thus fully automated.
Direct application, facilitated adoption
Integration into hospitals is based on a principle of adaptation: the agent works in the existing environment, without imposing a redesign. It is a question of equipping caregivers and administrative staff, not to replace them. This positioning facilitates adoption and responds to a central constraint in the sector: do better with available resources.
“Parallel AI agents operate as humans in an unptimized software environment. In a private sector of interoperability standards, this technology provides an immediate and concrete response to administrative disorganization ”, underlines Paul Lafforgueco -founder and CEO of Parallel.
A team from the Hexa ecosystem
Founded at the end of 2024 by Paul Lafforgue And Thomas SohetParallel was born within the Startup Studio Hexa, which is the source of companies like Front, Aircall or Spendesk. After a first project – Kiosk – the two founders went through Cominator, before operating a pivot towards a stake deemed more urgent: the sympionship of the hospital.
A TABLE TO INDUSTRIALIZE
With this fundraising, Parallel intends to structure its technical team, deploy its agent dedicated to medical coding on a wider, and expand its perimeter to other critical functions of the hospital back office. The objective: to build an infrastructure of AI agents compatible with the constraints of public health establishments.
“Parallel is attacking a dead angle of digital health: the administration. By bypassing integration blockages by an executable agent approach, they open a pragmatic route to the transformation of hospitals, ”comments Pierre Entremontco -founder of FRST.
