Gatewatcher raises 25 million euros to become a strategic pillar of European cybersecurity

Gatewatcher takes a new course in its strategic Scale-Up trajectory. The French company, specialized in the advanced detection of Cyber threats, has just raised 25 million euros from the European Investment Bank (BEI). This financing, in the form of Venture Débt, marks the most important investment of the EIB in a cybersecurity company to date. It strengthens the ambitions of technological autonomy of the European Union, in a context of increasing digital threats.

Recognized in 2025 as the only European “Visionary” in the Magic Quadrant ™ de Gartner® devoted to Network Detection and Response (NDR) solutions, Gatewatcher sees in this support a lever to accelerate its technological development and its international presence. The company intends to intensify its investments in R&D to maintain the advance of its platform, which combines artificial intelligence, behavioral analysis and Cyber Threat Intelligence, while continuing its deployment on European, Asian, African and Middle East markets.

Jacques de la Rivière, founder and CEO of Gatewatcher, sees it as “a strong signal of confidence on the part of a major European institution” and a shared commitment “for a secure digital future”. He adds that this funding will allow the company “to continue (its) innovation efforts at the service of (its) customers and partners”, while accelerating the dissemination of the last IA solution. His vision: “democratize access to the most advanced detection technologies” and “contribute to the emergence of a European and lasting cybersecurity industry”.

On the BEI side, this support is part of an industrial capacity building strategy in sectors deemed critical. Ambroise Fayolle, vice-president of the bank, specifies: “Cybersecurity is a strategic field of the defense industry. Preventing computer attacks, preserving the integrity of infrastructure and data, detecting managers: having these capacities is now imperative for Europe security and the competitiveness of our economies. »»

Gatewatcher claims several hundred deployments within public organizations, critical infrastructure operators and large companies, with a platform capable of covering all IT, OT, IoT, Cloud and On-Prime environments. The startup offers unified and contextualized visibility on networks, with automated and hierarchical response, and provision of an AI assistant to fluidify operations.

A French landscape in full consolidation

Gatewatcher is distinguished in French ecosystem as the only actor specializing in NDR benefiting from independent international recognition. However, other French companies are gaining momentum on complementary segments of cybersecurity.

Tehtrisbased in Bordeaux, develops a sovereign XDR suite, combining Edr, NDR and Siem, with an integrated approach to sensitive environments. Harfanglabfor its part, focuses on EDR, with technology labeled by ANSSI and widely adopted in the public sector. These actors, although centered on different technical layers, participate in the emergence of a sovereign cyber sector in France. Other initiatives such as Sequoia (Thales) or Glimps (binary analysis) confirm the vitality of the French cyber fabric, despite a market still dominated by American and Israeli solutions.

Founded in 2015 by Jacques de la Rivière, Gatewatcher had raised 25 million euros in series A in 2022 from Move Capital. This new operation brings the cumulative funding to 50 million euros. The company is based in France and now operates internationally, in markets where demand for sovereign and efficient cybersecurity solutions continues to grow.
