HLG Associates Limited adds to its teamManagement consultants HLG Associates Limited (HLG) have appointed experienced building professional Rupert Myers as Estimator and Surveyor.

A member of the Chartered Institute of Building and a qualified surveyor, Rupert has over 30 years' experience in the construction industry and will deliver a range of services for HLG and its associated companies.

He began his career with Sandell Perkins (now Travis Perkins) in the UK before moving to Jersey to take up a position with building firm Mark Amy Limited. He later joined Mercury Construction, becoming managing director and overseeing the growth of the business to a company with an annual turnover of over £5 million a year.

Rupert's experience encompasses the development of major housing and public sector schemes as well as numerous refurbishment works where the building was still in use. These include the refurbishment and extension of Mont Nicolle School and the construction of a new renal unit and the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at the General Hospital.

Recent contracts have included high value residential projects - such as the phased development of The Palms at Portelet (value £5 million) and two developments of 13 timber-framed houses (£2.1 million) - and the updating and refurbishment of the Hospital's Central Sterile Services Department at Five Oaks.

Commenting on the appointment, HLG's managing director Simon Matthews said Rupert's experience and knowledge of the local construction industry would be of great value to the company's growing client base.

"Having known Rupert for over 20 years, I am excited at the opportunities afforded by his recruitment and I am confident he will make a major contribution to the future direction and growth of HLG," he added.
