Twenty-two meetings, eighteen cities, ten countries. This week, European innovation will not only seek to produce new models, but to put them to work.
In Paris, AI will enter finance, ERP, marketing and software development. In Berlin and Hamburg, it will encounter rails, wind turbines and infrastructure. In Cologne and London, it will compete for access to the customer. From Ghent to Copenhagen, the question will be more political: on what data, what capital and what computing capacities does Europe want to build the future?
The previous week had been that of scaling up. The one that opens shows the consequence: artificial intelligence is gradually ceasing to be a sector to become a layer of the economy. It slips into financial software, a railway maintenance plan, an advertising campaign, a supply chain or an electrical network. It is both a diffusion and a test.
The change is less spectacular than a model launch, but more structuring. It shifts value to those who own the data, master the integration and know how to absorb risk, and also forces suppliers to answer long-delayed questions: who supervises the agent, who takes responsibility for its error, what infrastructure does it run on and what profit does it actually produce?
In Paris, AI moves down the organizational chart
The Paris sequence will begin on September 22 with the SAP NOW AI Tour France. In the Salles du Carrousel, the conversation will focus on agents, data and the integration of AI into finance, purchasing, human resources and supply chain functions. The same day, inTouch26 will bring together financial departments using CCH Tagetik at the Palais Brongniart to focus on business performance and agentic AI.
On September 23 and 24, AI Engineer Paris will take over at Station F with around 1,000 founders, AI managers and engineers, around thirty conferences and around fifteen workshops. The program brings together Mistral AI, Black Forest Labs, ElevenLabs, Hugging Face, GitHub Next and Stripe. Here, the challenge will no longer be to explain what a model is, but to address the evaluation, the safeguards, the observability, the voice interfaces, the development tools and the GPU clusters which allow it to be put into production.
Finally, on September 24 and 25, Le Printemps des études will bring together professionals in studies, data and insights at the Palais des Congrès. The sector constitutes a good laboratory for the ongoing recomposition: AI accelerates the collection, synthesis and production of content, but it does not replace the quality of a sample, nor the knowledge of a market, nor the ability to formulate the right question. After automating the response, companies rediscover the value of context.
In Berlin and Hamburg, software meets steel and megawatts
From September 22 to 25, Germany will simultaneously host two of the week’s major industrial meetings. In Berlin, InnoTrans will cover rail, public transport, infrastructure and mobility. The AI Mobility Lab, courses dedicated to robotics and a hackathon will place artificial intelligence in a world where safety, certification and the lifespan of equipment count as much as the speed of innovation.
In Hamburg, WindEnergy Hamburg expects 1,600 exhibitors and more than 43,000 participants from around a hundred countries. The opening of a space dedicated to energy storage broadens the discussion: producing more renewable electricity is not enough; it is still necessary to plan, balance, store, transport and maintain. Prediction software, sensors and AI will be ubiquitous, but as components of a physical system that does not tolerate hallucinations or service interruptions.
In Cologne and London, the battle for the commercial interface
On September 23 and 24, DMEXCO will bring together the marketing, media, commerce and technology industries in Cologne. AI search, agentic commerce, automated advertising and generative engine optimization will take center stage. Behind the vocabulary, a redistribution of access is underway: if the user delegates his research or purchase to an agent, brands, publishers and distributors must learn to convince a machine before convincing a human.
This mutation shifts the balance of power. The platforms already controlled the audience; assistants can now control intent, comparison, and part of the transaction. For the media, the risk is that of a web consulted without clicking. For merchants, that of a customer relationship absorbed by a third-party interface. For agencies, finally, automation calls into question the invoicing of production volume and gives value to strategy, proprietary data and distribution.
At the same time, London will organize three complementary meetings. Big Data LDN will address data platforms, analytics, AI and their governance. eCommerce Expo and Technology for Marketing, together at ExCeL, will follow the journey from acquisition to conversion and then delivery. This focus says something about the market: commercial AI does not exist without clean data, without measurement infrastructure and without operations capable of executing the promise made to the customer.
From Copenhagen to Ghent, Europe is assembling its infrastructure
From September 21 to 25, Nordic Fintech Week will bring together more than 2,500 participants from more than 50 countries in Copenhagen, with two main days on September 23 and 24. Payment, fight against fraud, identity, open banking and financing will be observed through the prism of AI. The Nordics have an old advantage: massive digital uses and ecosystems where banks, public authorities and startups know how to work together. Their challenge now is to convert this institutional trust into businesses capable of expanding beyond narrow domestic markets.
In Ghent, EGI2026 will bring together digital infrastructure providers, data scientists, researchers, public decision-makers and innovators from September 21 to 25. Sessions dedicated to AI factoriesGPU and large model services, digital twins and the European data and computing continuum will bring the debate back to its hardware foundation. Europe can supervise artificial intelligence, it must also be capable of running it.
This question will also be present on September 25 at imec, in Leuven, where the CELTIC-NEXT Proposers Brokerage Day will seek to form consortia bringing together companies, SMEs, researchers and public actors. Less publicized than a summit, this type of meeting nevertheless plays an essential role: it transforms European priorities into projects, then possibly into infrastructures, standards and markets.
In France, Lyon and Toulouse remind us that innovation does not stop at the ring road
On September 24, GO Entrepreneurs Lyon Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes expects around 10,000 entrepreneurs, 300 speakers and 150 partners at La Sucrière. The meeting goes well beyond tech: financing, acquisition, recruitment, transmission, digital and commercial development share the same stage. This is precisely its interest. An innovation only has economic value when it becomes a business capable of selling, hiring and lasting.
The same day in Toulouse, SFEIR and Scaleway will organize a meeting on sovereign and trusted AI for aeronautics, space and the public sector.
In Tallinn and Klaipėda, innovation is measured by time to use
On September 21, Defense Innovation Day will open Estonian Defense Week in Tallinn. Discussions will focus on how to build and deploy faster, lessons from Ukraine and resilience. Alumni of the NATO DIANA program will present solutions for private 5G networks, synthetic content detection and satellite imaging.
From September 25 to 27, the Portathon will bring together developers, students, researchers and businesses in Klaipėda around port and maritime challenges.
The detour: Brussels, where agriculture is preparing its next cycle of innovation
On September 24 and 25, the European Commission will organize the EU AgRI 2040 conference in Brussels. Researchers, farmers, industrialists and decision-makers will work on the research and innovation priorities of the next European framework program and the future European Competitiveness Fund.
