Reorbit, a European spatial technology company based in Finland, announced a lifting of 45 million euros in series A. This Tour, led by Springvest with the participation of Varma, Elo, Icebreaker.VC, Expansion VC, 10x Founders and Inventure VC, constitutes the most important a series A in pure capital never carried out in Finland and one of the most notable operations in Europe and Defense.
The startup designs and manufactures sovereign satellites and connected systems that allow states to have independent communication and intelligence capacities, with complete control over their critical infrastructure. Its products include Silta, a secure satellite communications platform, and Ukko, an intelligence and surveillance system. This funding will be used to increase production capacity, develop its owner technologies and open several satellite centers in different countries in the next twelve months.
Reorbit illustrates the progressive militarization of European New Space, long dominated by the commercial observation and connectivity projects, the industry is now moving towards dual, civil and defense applications. The demand relates to agile constellations, capable of strengthening national resilience and reducing dependence on extra-European providers, an issue that has become central in the current geopolitical context.
Reorbit evolves in a competitive environment where manufacturers established like Airbus Defense & Space, Thales Alenia Space or the German OHB operates, but also startups from New Space like Iceye, also Finnish, specialized in radar imaging. The reorbit asset lies in a modular and sovereign approach, associated with a transfer of know-how which allows customer states to keep a full operational control of their space infrastructure.
Founded by Sethu Saveda Suvanam, current CEO, Reorbit indicates that it has already signed several contracts and observes growing demand in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. With this series A of 45 million euros, the company brings its cumulative funding to 52.9 million euros.
