The French startup acquires a platform born at the Charité in Berlin, used in nearly 20 hospitals and practices and linked by a contract to the first German health insurance fund.
French specialist in medical remote monitoring in oncology, gastroenterology and psychiatry, Resilience Care is strengthening its presence in Germany with the acquisition of Recovery Cat. The young Berlin company brings it a platform used in nearly 20 hospitals and medical practices, links with Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and a contract with Techniker Krankenkasse (TK), a contract which allows TK policyholders who enter the course to use Recovery Cat free of charge, while participating health professionals can be paid for their follow-up activity.
A contract that links application to care
Resulting from work carried out at the Charité department of psychiatry and neuroscience, Recovery Cat was co-founded by psychiatrist and researcher Jakob Kaminski. Its platform allows the patient to provide information on symptoms, side effects and personal resources, then to examine their progress with caregivers. The presentation of the course by TK provides for an initial exchange with a participating structure, the definition of therapeutic objectives and a crisis plan, then regular meetings.
TK has 12.5 million policyholders, who can access the system from across the country with partner structures in five Länder: Bavaria, Berlin, Brandenburg, Baden-Württemberg and North Rhine-Westphalia.
German digital mental health already has its players
According to the German Federal Statistical Office, almost 1.1 million hospital stays had a mental or behavioral disorder as the main diagnosis in 2024, including around 261,600 for depression.
In 2025, German public coffers allocated 42 million euros to applications prescribed for mental disorders, or almost a quarter of their spending on prescription digital health applications, DiGA. The report identified 34 applications in this category. Companies like HelloBetter or Selfapy already offer digital programs for several mental disorders. Recovery Cat follows another financing circuit because its specific agreement with TK pays for a course in which caregivers participate.
Resilience extends its acquisition method
This operation is part of a series of acquisitions, Resilience acquired Betterise in 2021 to strengthen its remote monitoring, then GutyCare in 2023 to expand its offering to inflammatory bowel diseases. In 2024, the acquisition of Gimli provided it with technology for structuring clinical data in oncology. With Recovery Cat, it is strengthening a specialty that it already addresses with its Edra psychiatric solution, while acquiring a local presence and a relationship with a German insurer.
The company now claims 42,000 patients followed in more than 220 establishmentsin oncology, gastroenterology and psychiatry. Its solution for mood disorders is deployed in more than 25 French establishments.
Migrate patients without narrowing the journey
One of the challenges of Resilience is the integration of TK presents Recovery Cat, because the scope of the latter extends from schizophrenia, mania, bipolar disorders, moderate or severe depression to certain personality and behavioral disorders, when Edra PRO is set up for the monitoring of adults treated for a depressive or manic episode, outside emergency situations. The two perimeters therefore do not entirely overlap, the migration will therefore have to specify the route offered to German patients followed for other disorders and guarantee to caregivers the continuity of clinical data and monitoring practices.
An alert is only valuable if someone can act
The medical promise holds in the time between two consultations, namely collecting information on the patient’s progress, recognizing a sign of deterioration, allowing an appropriate response.
It also involves defining who receives the information, how often it is reviewed and which team intervenes in the event of a crisis. In psychiatry, continuity of monitoring involves both the organization of caregivers and the quality of the software.
Resilience thus has a gateway into German psychiatry, at a time when this indication does not yet appear in the French list of remote monitoring reimbursed under common law. The rest will be played out in the continuity of the contract with TK, the support of the German teams and the capacity of the new system to take care of their patients.
