How to start Monday morning off right?

Monday morning brings back bad memories because they were often the anxiety of finding yourself faced with a surprise question! So you are one of those who don’t like to hear “like a Monday” when you ask “how are you?” » ? You don’t want to be part of it anymore? To start your week off right and be in a good mood as soon as you get out of bed, follow the few simple tips that follow.

1 – Prepare the day before

We can never say it enough! Saving time the next day because you have prepared your things or planned your priorities on Sunday evening is an undeniable plus. You feel a certain satisfaction in having prepared everything before going to bed: that of the feeling of duty accomplished. The next day, you’ll be happy not to look for that second sock or misplaced folder. So, rather than running every Monday morning, start by preparing your things the day before to avoid chasing the watch as soon as you wake up.

2 – Think about your diet and sport

Food has a direct impact on the body, you know this and this no longer needs to be demonstrated at a time when overall health at work is a priority. Yet you wonder every lunchtime what you are going to eat. Result: you give in too often to the convenience of junk food. To avoid this phenomenon, you can start by making a list of your upcoming meals for the week. They will become more balanced and your body will thank you with a surplus of energy. Don’t skip breakfast either! We don’t say for nothing that it’s the most important meal of the day…

If you don’t have time to take it home, why not bring it back for all of your employees and have breakfast with itux?

3 – Arrive early at your work

Like every day, you could aim for peak time. In the meantime, you are likely to find yourself in saturated transport or roads with people who have the same way of functioning as you. However, you know that with a few minutes of delay or a well-thought-out hybrid mode organization, you could have avoided finding yourself compacted like a sardine or experiencing major traffic jams. To start your day off right, change your habits. Sometimes a 30-minute delay is enough to improve your quality of life. Not only do you get to work faster, but these peaceful conditions boost your morale.

Once you arrive early, what a joy to find that you are not immediately overwhelmed by requests or cascading notifications. You can then have your coffee, quickly browse your emails selectively and start your week well without being bothered.

4 – Update your to-do list

To start your day off right, you can structure it. Start by writing down all the tasks to be accomplished in your day and classifying them into non-urgent/urgent (or according to their real impact). Assign each task a realistic duration and start by writing them into your digital or paper to-do list. Remember to schedule a break between each task and have a time during the day when you do nothing to anticipate… the unpredictable. The to-do list remains above all a stress reliever: it saves you from wondering every hour if you haven’t forgotten something.

5 – Take stock with the teams and define objectives

To start the week off right, what could be better than taking stock with your teams, sometimes over coffee or a shared breakfast?

Arriving at the office becomes a pleasure for those who are welcomed in such a way. This morning meeting, whether in person or by videoconference for remote teams, allows you to know where your colleagues are but also to be able to define the objectives for the coming week. The transmission of information will become all the more effective if you are fresh, available and aligned.

6 – Get in a good mood

Having a meeting is good, but in a good mood is better. Sketch your prettiest smile to start this week. It is rarely pleasant to arrive when everyone seems to be sullen. Your teams will be in a better mood for the day if the first thing whatsee them when they arrive, they are a manager or a business leader full of enthusiasm.

Before getting to the heart of the matter, take a sincere interest in your employees. Did they have a good weekend? How is the youngest? Attention ! There’s no point in asking the question if you don’t listen to the answer and it’s just an automatic polite phrase. Taking a few minutes to inject a little humanity on Monday morning will not ruin your business, quite the contrary!

7 – Allow yourself moments of relaxation

Monday often feels like a marathon day. Be aware that you are not a machine and that you cannot stay focused all day without interruption. The brain is not designed to perform non-stop. Even if you believe that your power of concentration is extraordinary, know that your attention slows unconsciously. Take regular breaks and moments of relaxation to invigorate yourself. These breaks will allow you to step back and ask yourself, for example, if a task could not be done differently – or automated – to save time and quality.
