FDDAY 2026: the end of the era of unicorns, profitability is now the metric that counts

For a decade, the success of a French startup was largely told through its fundraising. Each round provided an amount, a valuation, an implicit ranking and, for the most adept, a photograph large enough to fit the founders, the investors and a few bottles of champagne.

The market correction has restored order to this scenario. Investors have not disappeared, but they are now demanding stronger revenues, better controlled capital consumption and a credible path to profitability. For many startups, the priority question is no longer just who will finance the next round, but who will actually buy the product.

FDDAY 2026 reflects this evolution; the fourteenth edition, organized on September 16 at the Musée des Arts Forains in Paris, will bring together, according to France Digitale, around 4,500 founders, investors and innovation managers. These figures outline the structure of the event: a single day, several scenes, a succession of devices designed to provoke commercial, financial or regulatory meetings.

In a few years, FDDAY has become the back-to-school meeting for the French ecosystem, where everyone comes to assess the priorities of the new cycle.

Large groups invited to become clients of France Digitale member companies

The first group of speakers announced for 2026 gives an important place to the leaders of large French companies with Stéphane Pallez, president and CEO of FDJ United, Philippe Palazzi, CEO of the Casino Group and president of Monoprix and Naturalia, as well as Marie-Ange Debon, president and CEO of La Poste

CES returns to look for European trends

Gary Shapiro, Executive Chair of the Consumer Technology Association, will speak as part of the return of CES Tech Trends, the opportunity for the big event in Las Vegas to recruit its participants in 2027.

A new zone for early-stage founders

The 2026 edition will inaugurate an Entrepreneurs Zone intended for early stage founders, with practical masterclasses and individual mentoring sessions. The system responds to a recurring weakness of major events: young founders hear managers recount a ten-year trajectory, but leave without answers to their questions on pricing, the first commercial hire, the distribution of capital or the preparation of a Seed round.

Workshops limited to around 80 participants will also be devoted to the functions of CFO, CTO, CPO, CMO, human resources and public affairs.

Why do you have to go there?

For a French startup in the financing phase, FDDAY makes it possible to concentrate meetings with French but also European investment funds.

For a European scaleup wishing to enter the French market, the event constitutes a commercial, financial and institutional access point, the Latvian delegation understood this well: Paris can serve as a gateway to large French groups, but also to an ecosystem of European investors and decision-makers.

For an investor, the day offers a dense overview of French companies and makes it possible to find other funds without organizing a series of separate trips. The presence of corporate leaders also helps to assess the sectors in which commercial demand is actually materializing.

For a large group, FDDAY is an opportunity to identify suppliers and partners more quickly than a traditional sourcing process.
