An invoice issued does not yet generate cash flow. Between sending it and paying it, financial teams must find a contact, transmit a missing document, understand a dispute or follow up on a promise to pay. Cleavr wants to automate this succession of exchanges. The Parisian fintech announces a fundraising of 8 million euros to develop its platform and accelerate its European expansion.
Guest of FRENCHWEB.FR, its co-founder Baptiste Nassoy presents Cleavr as an “AI collaborator who automates the collection and management of customer positions”. Behind this formula, a precise scope: taking care of what follows invoicing, from the first reminders to the handling of disputes, then the intervention of legal partners when the file requires it.
Understand why an invoice remains pending
Late payment covers very different situations. An invoice may have been sent to the wrong department, lack an order reference or raise a question about the service. The supplier may also delay responding or continue to follow up after a discussion has already begun.
Cleavr connects to ERPs, invoicing software and CRMs to retrieve invoices and contacts. The platform personalizes reminders, uses multiple channels, including email, SMS and WhatsApp, then analyzes the responses. It can find a new contact when a contact no longer responds and transmit the identified difficulties to the financial, sales or customer support teams.
“It’s the right message sent at the right time with the right information,” summarizes Baptiste Nassoy. The proposal consists of linking the accounting data, the conversation and the action necessary for the settlement. For the customer, the challenge is to obtain a useful response; for the supplier, to shorten the path to collection.
Autonomy framed by the commercial relationship
“We automate 80% of actions that were historically manual,” says Baptiste Nassoy. According to him, AI can also process 80% of the responses received on its own. Situations presenting a commercial or reputational risk are transmitted to internal teams.
“We only rely on the business data of the invoicing tool to which we connect,” explains the founder. The answers are thus limited by the information available. This limitation is essential in a function where an erroneous message, excessive follow-up or misinterpretation of a dispute can deteriorate a commercial relationship.
Integration becomes, in this context, a central component of the product. Cleavr claims a connection to all ERPs, including those with more difficult access to data. Maintaining these connections and synchronizing information determines the relevance of actions: a recorded payment or a credit note issued must immediately modify the follow-up of the file.
Cash flow as a measure of results
Cleavr claims to reduce the DSO by 37% on average, the indicator which measures the average time to collect customer receivables. Baptiste Nassoy illustrates this promise with a company going from 30 days to less than 20 days. These are results announced by the company, the interview of which does not detail the measurement scope.
For a financial department, the interest lies in the cash made available earlier, the time saved and the possible reduction in the need for financing. The acceleration of collections does not, in itself, create additional turnover.
Fintech operates by subscription, with no commission on the amounts recovered. For mid-sized companies, Baptiste Nassoy mentions a cost of between 10,000 and 150,000 euros per year, depending on the size of the activity and the volume of invoices. Companies with a turnover of between 50 million and one billion euros are its preferred target.
Cleavr claims more than a hundred customers in six to seven months. The acquisition is still 90% based on prospecting, according to its co-founder. Relations with billing publishers, banks and private equity funds should allow it to broaden its access to companies.
A need for cash in an already equipped market
The need goes beyond just the disputed invoices. In its 2025 report published in September 2026, the Payment Deadlines Observatory estimates, based on 2024 data, that French SMEs and microenterprises would have had 13 billion euros in additional cash flow in the absence of delays. At the end of 2025, the average delay still reached 13.4 days, slightly above the European average. For financial departments, better monitoring of receivables therefore constitutes a lever for controlling working capital requirements.
Customer management is, however, an already equipped market. Upflow centralizes collection exchanges and offers agents capable of managing responses, payment promises and disputes, with several degrees of human validation. Sidetrade deploys its agent Aimie to interact with debtors and transmit sensitive situations to the teams. Esker combines payment predictions, recommendations and collaborative tools in a broader financial flow management offering. The American HighRadius is also developing collection agents integrated into its financial platform, particularly for responding to emails and tracking invoices on customer portals.
Faced with these offers, Cleavr is banking on support for exchanges after invoicing, the claimed extent of its connections to ERPs and a subscription model. Internal teams and collection agencies remain alternatives; Factoring provides a cash advance. The ability to resolve administrative blockages must also deal with the solvency of the debtor and the commercial balance of power between customer and supplier.
Competition also plays out in access to businesses. Billing publishers and banks can bring customers to Cleavr, while having the opportunity to enrich their own offerings. For fintech, turning these relationships into regular acquisition channels will be as important as developing new features. Its differentiation must be measured in the quality of deployment, the handling of exceptions and the collection results.
Electronic invoicing can facilitate this evolution by further structuring data. Since September 1, 2026, the French companies concerned must be able to receive electronic invoices, with large companies and mid-sized companies also having to issue them. The emission obligation will extend to SMEs and microenterprises in September 2027. This standardization can simplify the work of Cleavr like that of its competitors.
Moving from first customers to European deployment
The project was born from complementary experiences: Arthur Guérin had built recovery management at Skello, Antoine Grenard worked on the subject in strategy consulting and Baptiste Nassoy managed it in the operations of an energy renovation group. The founders first favored a tight team and development fueled by customer requests. “We listen a lot and we adapt,” emphasizes Baptiste Nassoy.
With this funding, Baptiste Nassoy intends to “conquer Europe fairly quickly”. Cleavr indicates that it is present in France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain and Belgium. Its next step is to expand this presence while maintaining the quality of monitoring. Automating current exchanges makes it possible to absorb more files; exception management and relay to teams will remain decisive in obtaining the confidence of financial departments.
Founded in 2025 by Baptiste Nassoy, Arthur Guérin and Antoine Grenard, Cleavr raises 8 million euros in seed funding in a round led by Varsity, with Portfolio Ventures, Kerala and Financière Saint James, as well as its historic investors Kima Ventures and Better Angle. The operation comes after an initial financing of one million euros announced in March 2026, bringing the amounts raised announced to 9 million euros. The funds are to support product development, commercial strengthening and European expansion.
EXPERIENCE – using Cleavr on a daily basis
Should I change invoicing or accounting software?
Cleavr connects to existing tools to retrieve invoices, contacts and payments. Invoice creation and accounting remain in the company’s software; Cleavr takes care of their monitoring until collection.
What tools can be connected to Cleavr?
The site notably features integrations with Pennylane, Sellsy, Axonaut, Sage, SAP, Odoo, NetSuite, Stripe and Qonto. For an internal tool or one not in the catalog, Cleavr offers an API and file exchanges. The suitable connection depends on the environment used.
How long does it take to get started?
For supported connections, Cleavr announces a few minutes of connection, followed by variable synchronization depending on data volume. The first reminders can leave the next day. A specific connector requires a separate schedule.
Can we start with a few invoices?
Yes. Cleavr indicates that it allows a start on a client or a selection of invoices, then a gradual extension. Its AI begins by observing and proposing actions, which teams can validate or correct before increasing its autonomy.
Do customers receive messages on behalf of Cleavr?
The debtor portal can be personalized with the visual identity of the supplier. The customer accesses his file via a link, without creating an account. He can report a payment, dispute the invoice or request a schedule.
What happens when a customer promises to pay on a specific date?
The AI can record the payment promise and suspend reminders until the announced date. She then verifies the payment. If this is missing, monitoring resumes according to the defined rules; the team can change the follow-up date.
Do reminders stop after payment?
According to Cleavr, recording the payment interrupts the collection process and cancels planned reminders. The invoice and indicators are updated. This operation is based on the feedback of payment information to the connected tools.
How is a disputed invoice handled?
Cleavr announces a pause on reminders while the dispute is processed. Depending on the autonomy granted to the AI, it determines the next step or prepares a task for the team, with the client’s response and the history of the file.
Can we validate sensitive actions before their execution?
Validation steps can be configured before pre-litigation or transmission to a legal recovery partner. Teams have the context to accept or reject the action. These control points must be defined during configuration.
Can Cleavr track invoices sent to public customers?
Cleavr presents a Chorus Pro module that automates filing from the ERP and tracks invoice statuses. In the event of rejection, it indicates the reason and the recommended action, with the possibility of resubmission. Payment tracking is integrated into the process.
How does pricing work and what does the subscription include?
The price is established on estimate, according to the activity and the volume of receivables, without commission on the amounts collected. According to the Cleavr FAQ, reminders, portal, monitoring, integrations and support are included up to pre-litigation. The scope and possible costs of the dispute must be specified in the estimate.
Where is the data hosted and can we monitor the actions carried out?
Cleavr says it hosts the data in the European Union, encrypts it and isolates it per client. The company claims to be ISO 27001:2022 certified. Each action is logged with its date, author and context, to allow operations to be monitored.
