Winners of IoD Jersey Awards announced

IoD Awards 2015Ten individuals in Jersey were recognised for their outstanding achievements and leadership qualities as winners at a black tie awards event on Friday last week.

The winners of the 2015 Jersey Director of the Year Awards, organised by the IoD Jersey and supported by co-lead sponsors Airtel-Vodafone and Appleby and video sponsor PBS Media, were selected by an independent judging panel and announced in front of an audience of over 300 at the Awards dinner on Friday 24 April at the Hotel de France.

For the first time, there were joint winners in the Public/Third Sector Director of the Year category whilst there was also an award to recognise academic achievement through the Chartered Director programme and the student winner of the IoD Work Shadowing Programme was also presented with an award. The full list of winners is as follows:

• Small Organisation Director of the Year: Damon Eastwood, Switch Digital
• Medium Organisation Director of the Year: Kevin Allen, Investec Bank
• Large Organisation Director of the Year: Colin Macleod, CI Co-Operative
• Young Director of the Year: Jordan Love, Codex
• Public/Third Sector Director of the Year: Ian Burns, States of Jersey Social Security, and Dr Andrew Mitchell, Department of Cardiology
• Global Director of the Year: Nigel Le Quesne, JTC
• Chartered Director Programme Award: Alexa Sinel, R&H Trust Co (Jersey) Limited (Diploma) and Peter Pichler, Jersey Financial Services Commission (Certificate)
• IoD Work Shadowing Programme Student Award: Patrick McKimmon, Victoria College

The event was once again hosted by guest speaker, renowned writer, broadcaster, former MP and Government Whip Gyles Brandreth. The judging panel for the Awards was chaired by Advocate Vicky Milner, Founder of Callington Chambers, and also included Jason Laity, Executive Director, KPMG; John McGuinness, Head teacher, Grainville School; Chris Clark, CEO, Prosperity 24.7; and Claire Boscq-Scott, Managing Director, Claire Boscq-Scott Customer Services.

A total of 20 different senior professionals and directors working across Jersey’s private, public and voluntary sectors had initially been shortlisted across all categories for the Awards, which are designed to celebrate the achievements of individuals and recognise excellence in the business community.
