William Mason, the Director General of the Guernsey Financial Services Commission (GFSC) has been elected to the board of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS). The Executive Committee elections took place at the IAIS's Annual Conference and General Meeting in Amsterdam last week.
Established in 1994, the IAIS represents insurance regulators and supervisors from more than 200 jurisdictions in nearly 140 countries, constituting 97 per cent of the world's insurance premiums.
The objectives of the IAIS are to: promote effective and globally consistent supervision of the insurance industry in order to develop and maintain fair, safe and stable insurance markets for the benefit and protection of policyholders; and to contribute to global financial stability.
