Founder member of the Guernsey office of the worldwide Sovereign Group, Stephen Hare, is appointed Managing Director.
Mr Hare joined Sovereign in April 2004 as Legal Counsel to the Group’s Gibraltar office. In 2007 he was appointed to the Board, with responsibility for legal, compliance and client relationship matters. When the Group chose to open a fully managed Guernsey operation, Mr Hare was involved with the set up and running of the office, which went live in May 2010 and now numbers 21 staff.
Educated at Maidstone Grammar School, Mr Hare graduated in law at Thames Valley University in London. After a Legal Practice Course at The College of Law, he joined Kent based Argles & Court, now ASB Law, one of the largest law firms in southern England. Mr Hare qualified as a Solicitor in 1998, specialising in private client matters. Prior to joining Sovereign, Mr Hare was a partner at Tunbridge Wells law firm CooperBurnett.
Mr Hare is a member of STEP and plans to embark on further study when time permits!
Josephine Rocca was recently appointed to the Guernsey Board as a director, with responsibility for operations. Mrs Rocca joined Sovereign’s Gibraltar office in 2008 as a client relationship manager, managing a portfolio of international clients and their structures. Having embarked on a law degree with the University of London which she successfully obtained in 2010, Mrs Rocca is now studying towards her Legal Practice Course.
Sovereign Trust (CI) Ltd's core activities are traditional trust and company management, and pension’s services. Mr Hare acknowledges that the recent, unexpected attack on Guernsey by HMRC has affected the QROPS side of the business, with Sovereign - like many of its competitors - unable to accept new QROPS cases in Guernsey. However, he points out that the office administers a significant number of existing pensions and will continue to strive to provide a first class service to its members. The office will continue to be open for business to other pension-based services, such as domestic occupational pensions and QNUPS.
