Jersey-based software developer Simon Brown has been selected to deliver the opening keynote at the Software Architect 2012 conference that is taking place in London during October. The annual conference, now in its sixth year, is a technical conference for software developers and architects covering topics ranging from software architecture, design and agile software development through to Microsoft .NET, Windows 8 and HTML 5. In previous years, the conference has attracted attendees from a wide range of businesses and industries throughout Europe.Simon's opening keynote is titled "The journey to becoming a 21st century architect" where he will talk about what the software architecture role should look like on modern software development teams and how software developers can move into it. Commenting on the conference, Simon said, "It's fantastic that I've been selected for the opening keynote and I'm really looking forward to this and the whole conference; there are some great talks that I really want to see. As with my recently published book, the topic of my keynote talk is about bringing the software architecture discipline firmly back into the realm of software development teams. In my opinion, a lightweight and collaborative approach to software architecture is often the missing piece of the puzzle and can help prevent many software projects from failing."Simon is a regular speaker at the Software Architect conference and is also presenting a number of other 90-minute sessions and 1-day workshops at the conference this year. All are related to Simon's lightweight and collaborative approach to the software architecture role. The conference takes place in London on the 16th-19th October 2012 and registration for the conference is now open, with a £200 discount available for those booking early.
