Gorey Village development scheme

Dandara Gorey Village development Dandara have submitted an application to build a development in Gorey Village on the Potteries site. If successful, Dandara are intending to build 53 three and four bedroom, semi-detached and detached family homes on the site which has been the subject of two previous successful planning permits, one in 2008 for 57 units and the current permit, for 52 units, which was granted in May 2011.

The new scheme, designed by Robert Adam, is traditional in its approach and seeks to emulate the scale and character of the village of Gorey. Commenting on the design, Robert Adam said, “The centrepiece of the site is an open green created around a group of retained willow trees and is linked to the southern communal green space via an open central landscaped vista with a stream and a narrow open lane. A pond is created at the head of the stream within the central green to complement the willow trees and the village ambiance to which the development will be connected by pedestrian only access onto Gorey Village Main Road”.

Subject to planning, Dandara will commence on site during the summer of 2012 with the first occupancies taking place, late 2013.
