Business support services provider, Law At Work (Channel Islands) Limited (“LAW”), recently acquired Jon Wilkins & Co. Jersey Limited (“JWL”), an established Health and Safety consultancy in a move which expands the firm’s health and safety services division.
LAW is a Channel Islands-based provider of employment relations and human resources consultancy, health and safety consultancy, training and event management services to employers across the islands. The acquisition of JWL, which specialises in health and safety consultancy within the construction industry, not only expands LAW’s client base but increases its headcount as LAW has taken on JWL staff members in a deal which sees no redundancies being made.
“This is an excellent move for both JWL and LAW,” said Kelly Flageul, Managing Director of LAW. “By combining the strengths of the two companies, LAW is now set to become the leading provider of health and safety services to the Channel Island’s business community. We have welcomed David Ward and Patrick Guyomard into our team and are looking forward to working with them to build LAW’s health and safety capabilities.”
Between them, David and Patrick worked at JWL for 15 years and they have both worked within the health and safety field since the mid-1980s.
David began his health and safety career in 1985 whilst serving in the British Army. He then moved to Jersey and the Jersey Electricity Company in 1989 where he worked as a corporate safety adviser before joining JWL in 2000.
Jersey-born Patrick began his career with the Jersey Electricity Company in 1984 before moving to CI Traders (now Sandpiper) in 2003 as Group Health and Safety Manager. He was responsible for all health and safety matters across both Jersey and Guernsey. He subsequently moved to JWL in 2009. Both Patrick and David are chartered members of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).
David is a committee member of the Jersey Occupational Safety and Health Association (JOSHA) and a member of the Jersey Employers Network for Disability (JEND).
Among his other memberships, David is a European Occupational Safety and Health Manager (EurOSHM), a Member of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (MIIRSM), a Registered Member of the Association for Project Safety (RMaPS), a Founder Member of the Institution for Leadership and Management (MInstLM) and an Associate Member of the Institute of Acoustics (AMIOA).
Patrick has an MSc in Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety Management, is Chairman of JOSHA and a committee member of JEND. He is also a Registered Member of RMaPS and a Member of MIIRSM. Patrick lives in Trinity and among various interests outside of work, he coaches the Island ladies basketball team.
